Welcome to JAM: Jesus and Me

Hello! My name is Jamie Winklepleck, and I am so excited to serve as the Youth Coordinator for children from infants through middle school here at Hope Lutheran. I will be leading our Sunday JAM (Jesus and Me) program this year.

I have worked in early education—especially Special Education—for over 15 years. I studied Early Childhood Development at Southeast Tech and find great joy in creating ways for children to learn through play, movement, and curiosity. My goal is to use these gifts to help children engage with the stories of the Bible in meaningful, memorable ways.

What is JAM?

JAM Co (Jesus and Me) (infant to 3rd grade as taught by Amber) & JAM too (3rd Grade - Middle school as taught by Brandi) is our children’s ministry program designed to help kids:

  • Build a personal relationship with God
  • Learn the stories of the Bible
  • Build connections within the Hope Lutheran community
  • Learn the language and practices of the Church

And we do this all through hands-on play, music, movement, stories, and curiosity!

Luther League is for high school youth as taught by Betzi where they explore real life situations and how it intercedes with their Lutheran faith. 

What Families Can Expect

JAM classes are joyful, busy, and sometimes messy—but always full of purpose. Children will experience:

  • Sensory play (think sand, water, dough, and textures)
  • Movement activities (big body play, dancing, acting out stories)
  • Music and rhythm (singing, instruments, sound exploration)
  • Storytelling and crafts (connecting Bible stories to children’s everyday lives)

Research shows that children learn best when they are actively engaged. That means our JAM spaces will be alive with laughter, creativity, questions, and sometimes glitter on the floor—and that’s exactly what learning should look like!

Learning Styles We Honor

JAM is designed to reach all types of learners:

  • Kinesthetic/Tactile Learners → learn best through movement and touch
  • Linguistic Learners → grow through stories, conversation, and new words
  • Naturalistic Learners → connect to God’s creation through hands-on exploration
  • Musical Learners → experience faith through rhythm, song, and sound
  • Visual Learners → learn through color, images, and creative expression

By offering a variety of activities, every child will have the chance to connect with God’s Word in a way that speaks to them personally.
