A Message from Vicar Corey
The spring days are beginning to warm. Daylight hours are shining earlier into the morning hours and setting later in the evening. I have always loved early spring, when the sun is rising as I awaken to begin my day, the sunlight brightly telling me that I have been given a new day. The smell of the first rain opens my senses to the springing of new life as I step outside. The birds have begun chirping, the grass is greening, and the flowers are blooming. It is in those moments I say a prayer of thanks, for God has blessed me. Also, as I see the sun break the horizon, it is a reminder of the beauty of God’s wonderful creation. And in that moment, I am confident that God is still at work in our world.
The confidence that comes in these times; the faith that I feel when uncertainty fills my conscience, I know that God is present, God is doing something, God is with us. Right now, we as the church, are planning, trying, and executing programs and processes, so we can feel confident that we are doing the right things when it comes to: how we worship, how we commune, when we can have fellowship, how we educate during these times of worry and discomfort with the pandemic that still is going in our neighborhoods. The words from Isaiah 41:10 help me, Isaiah writes “So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”
We are not always able to find the right words or the right actions, but our faith reminds us that we are not alone, that God promises to help us, to hold us in His hands. So even as spring brings about new life, as the hours of the day get longer, we can be confident that we have a Father who promises us that He will guide us with His right hand, and that He will give us strength to face whatever life hands to us. Blessings of peace be with you today and tomorrow.
Together with Hope,
Vicar Corey
