A message from Pastor Lynnae

Dear friends,

In the Gospel of John, Jesus speaks about worship.

“But the hour is coming, and is now here, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for the Father seeks such as these to worship him.” John 4:23

The 2020 Council has discerned that it is time for us to worship in spirit and truth – in person, but it will look and feel a bit different in this time of pandemic.

The first resumed “in-person” worship will be Aug. 9, 9:00 AM. Our worship will include the basic elements of prayer, scripture, preaching, Holy Communion and blessing. We will not practice unison speaking or singing. We will experience new ways of praying and enjoying music.

Our plan is to have one service (9:00 AM). If the service should get full, we will advise you, but no one will be turned away. If someone should come that does not have a mask on, we will provide one. Mask wearing is vital for the vulnerable among us and will be required.

The elements of Holy Communion will be picked up by each participating person as they leave the sanctuary. Ushers will direct the exiting of the sanctuary. The restrooms will be open for emergencies.

The service will be recorded and sent by email and posted on our Facebook page for those who choose to stay home.

I know that the day is coming when we will no longer be afraid of COVID-19 and that we will enjoy the intimacies of sharing the peace, fellowship time and regular singing and gathering. It’s just – not yet. These ways in which we will re-open the church to in-person worship will not be perfect and we ask for your patience and support.

“God is spirit, and those who worship him must worship in spirit and truth.” John 4:24

With Hope,

Pastor Lynnae I Sorensen
