Matt’s March 2019 Good News Column
On February 6th Hope Lutheran hosted the Soup & Pie Social. The fundraiser is held each February with the proceeds benefiting the HopeCare Children’s Center. The light snow outside didn’t slow traffic or enthusiasm for the event. Attendees had their choice of vegetable, chicken & wild rice or chili, along with Panera bread and a choice of at least 8 different kinds of pies. By all accounts, the turnout and donations topped last year’s event. Thanks to everyone that donated, helped or attended!
The Soup and Pie Social was a wonderful success! Though we had no official count, our guess for attendance was 175 people. We are so thrilled with this! The winner of our special quilt was Alice Miller, and the winners of the pies were Dar Golz and Tammy & Lydell Larson. Our quilt and pie donation raffle raised almost $700.00, while our freewill donation at the doors of the event raised over $1,600.00. Special thanks to Tony and Loxie Hockenberry for the donation of the quilt, Lora DeWald for the donation of the special pies, and Rita Korbal and the rest of the Hope Care Committee and other volunteers for all of the preparation and care before and during the event.
Thank you all for your hard work! This month, we are beginning to send out summer care information and registration for the 2019 summer. Current After School parents have already begun enrolling. Past summer care and other current parents can expect to receive their registration at the beginning of March. In April, we will open registration to the public. Please check with Hope Care Administration to ensure registration was received.
