A message from Pastor Lynnae

“O Lord, how manifold are your works!
In wisdom you have made them all;
the earth is full of your creatures.” Psalm 104:24
We have had worship themes for the different months of summer. This month, August, we will celebrate “Creation”. Our sermon themes will take a close look at stories of creation and the overarching view of God’s goodness found in creation.
Confirmands have an age old fight about who was worse, Adam or Eve? I believe that for the most part we try to avoid a theological understanding of these old tales of sin and goodness. The temptation (get it?) is to make the Genesis stories be about the first ones instead of being about the creator. God made us and God loves us like a good parent. That is the first story.
The second one is about what God expects of us as good stewards of the gift of creation. We are to care for creation. That means more than just recycling. It means treating all of creation with the future in mind. It means tilling and cultivating. And not just nature but one another and the animal world as well. It is a tall order but a holy calling.
Join us this August as we celebrate creation.
